Lenexa Sun Room and Addition

The clients wanted to transform their builder-grade deck into a true three-seasons room that could be enjoyed year-round while overlooking the golf course behind their home. Because the rear elevation included multiple original windows, the project required rebuilding the deck from the footings up and engineering a new load-bearing structure that wouldn’t block natural light or make the interior feel enclosed. We addressed this by installing insulated wall assemblies, a low-pitch roof, expansive glass—including eight- and twelve-foot multi-panel sliders—and custom windows pitched to match the home’s original geometry. To ensure the addition looked original to the home, we matched the 20-year-old stone, recreated tapered columns, replicated the tongue-and-groove ceiling stain, and carried two-by-four granite pavers seamlessly to the exterior “heckle deck” with a custom low-profile metal handrail. The relocated gas fireplace and careful integration of materials and structure created a bright, warm, architecturally cohesive space that feels like it has always belonged.
